Expect to See Standard AEB on Certain 2018 Nissan Models

Automatic emergency braking (AEB) is a safety feature that is on the rise (and for good reason, too). Vehicles with this feature often get special attention from government safety testers because AEB helps to save lives by preventing collisions or reducing their effects. Numerous automakers have announced their intention to make AEB a standard feature on some vehicles by 2022.

Nissan, however, announced that it will standardize AEB for eight 2018 models.

The 2018 Nissan models in line to get the standard AEB treatment are the Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Altima, Leaf, Pathfinder, and Murano.

Automatic Emergency Braking and You

AEB is an optional feature on some new 2017 Nissan models, but the decision to make it standard on some 2018 models is an exciting new development.

AEB senses your speed and how far you are from the car in front of you. If it detects that you might bump into the vehicle ahead, it gives you audio and visual alerts so you know to slow down.

If you don't respond in time, this system can apply the brakes for you to help you avoid a crash or reduce the effects if a collision is unavoidable.
